Quotes by Zach Goldie, Marketing Manager at Browserless
About Browserless
Browserless is a headless Chrome browser as a service that enables users to automate web-based tasks such as data collection, PDF generation, and QA testing.
What brought Browserless to Quira?
Browserless were interested in boosting their visibility in the open source ecosystem, and bringing in developers into their product’s orbit.
They’re friends with the team over at Flagsmith, who had recently run a highly successful Creator Quest with Quira. The team at Flagsmith were kind enough to introduce Browserless to Quira as they felt we’d be a strong partner in helping Browserless with their community growth objectives.
“The results with Flagsmith looked super strong; similar to what your team had done for Browserless. Easy decision!”
What did the Quest look like?
Quira’s Creator Quests are async hackathon-style challenges that prompt developers with a challenge designed around the partner’s tool or product.
For each quest, Quira designs a challenge that will engage developers and allow them to discover the partner repo in an engaging way. Quira’s approach to quests is data-driven. Before a Quest starts, Quira will match relevant members from its 50k+ community to the quest. This is made possible through Quira’s proprietary technology that is able to match developers to open source organisations by semantically understanding the skills and interests from the developer from their prior contributions in open source.
Additionally, the Quests are designed to be very hands-off for the partner organisation. Quira takes on the heavy lifting so you can be as involved as you want in the quest.
”Also, as a marketer at startup, I’m juggling many plates; the fact that this was hands off and low effort for me, while the results were great made the experience really great!”
What was the impact of the Quest?
Over 3,000 developers in Quira community were introduced to Browserless as a direct result of the Quest. The collaboration yielded 25 submissions, with some developers choosing to work in teams.
A positive side-effect of Quira’s matching was that Browserless was able to collect over 400 GitHub stars from relevant developers. During the Quest, Browserless trended on GitHub for Typescript (on April 13th). ✨
“The Quest brought great positive momentum for us. Good quality submissions, a lot of relevant people came to know about the product. To top it off, we ended up trending on GitHub, which is always awesome!”
Looking forward
The collaboration between Browserless and Quira was a success, and gave their team some ideas on how to leverage Quira’s community and Creator Quest offering further in future collaborations.
“We’d be interested in working together again and look at bringing in some more product feedback in a next iteration. We’d love to get involved in the judging process even more, as we loved interacting with the community (who were super engaged). Great results, low effort and light touch! Really good experience for us overall.”
